Kensington to Gary

Kensington - The Metra Electric platform at Kensington. South Shore trains no longer stop at this station (effective February 15th, 2012).
Hegeswich - The only NICTD station in Illinois - all other Illinois stations are shared with the Metra Electric line. This is the first station where passengers on Eastbound trains from Chicago are permitted to disembark, and the last station to board Westbound trains to Chicago.

This station was upgraded to high level platforms and gauntlet tracks in 2006.
Hammond - This station was upgraded to high level platforms and gauntlet tracks in 1998.

At gauntlet track stations the platforms the tracks diverge into an overlapping arrangement that allows passenger trains to pass close to the platform for loading and freight trains to pass further away.

East Chicago - This is major commuter station located next to the Indiana Toll Road.

This station was upgraded to high level platforms and gauntlet tracks in 2005.
Clark Road - a flag stop on the west side of Gary near the airport.

This stop is west of The Old Gauntlet Bridge.
Gary Metro Center - Located on broadway in downtown Gary, the Metro Center (not shown, to the left) is also a major bus station. There is an elevator and escalator from platform level down to the connecting walkway to the Metro Center.
