Michigan City Shops
Trains are held from entering Shops by the outer signals at CP 32.2. The approach to shops is controlled by CP signals at CP 33.3 (Michigan Ave) and CP 31.3 (east of Karwick Rd).

The interlocking features five powered switches allowing freight trains to enter the CSS Kingsbury line without manually throwing the switch on the main, as well as enter the yard.

Automation of the entrance to Shops was part of the Michigan City to South Bend Phase 3 Signaling Project (paid for by Tiger grant money).

The WB signal was initially signed as an intermediate. It remained a single head signal after the sign was changed.

CTC signals were installed west of CP 32.2 in 2007. Construction at Shops began in 2011.

The eastbound arrival signal at Shops was initially installed with no "Clear" aspect. (March 2011) The signal head was later changed to a standard three light signal. A new westbound signal was installed east of the diamond with dwarf signals controlling the entrances to the main line and the diamond. (May 2011) Additional signals were installed to control the yard exit/entrance and trains arriving from South Bend. (June-July 2011 - The new westbound signal initially was installed with no "Clear" aspect.)

CTC was extended to South Bend at the end of 2011. The signals were first reported in service on November 18th, 2011.
