Signal Aspects for Ogden Dunes | |||
The following diagrams detail the signal aspects possible for CP 51.5 and CP 50.8 at Ogden Dunes.
Intermediates at 531/532 and 491/492 are also shown. Track one at Ogden Dunes station has a high platform and gauntlets.
![]() Westbound TrainsDue to the high platform, track 1 is preferred for loading and unloading trains. Westbound trains can cross over to track 1 at CP 46.5 or remain on track 1 after the station stop at Dune Park.![]() Follow the signals westbound from the bottom of the diagram to the top as all aspects available are shown at each location. The smaller signals show which aspects at the next signal west will lead to the aspect illustrated (on each track). Restricting is always shown if the track is occupied between locations. Stop is shown if the track is occupied at the location (before the opposing signals) or the train does not have permission to proceed. Approach and Diverging Approach are shown westbound on track 1 at CP 50.8. The intermediate signal at 492-1 provides advance warning. The diagram above shows signals for a train headed westbound through Ogden Dunes. This configuration allows a passenger train stopping at the platform to enter CP 50.8 on an Approach signal (instead of Restricting) or a freight train to pass on the bypass track and stop at CP 51.5. The diagram below shows signals for a train headed westbound on track 2. Passenger trains can stop at the low platform on track 2 if needed. The double approach (at 492-2 and 504-2) is similar to the double approach used on track 1. ![]() Eastbound TrainsWith normal right hand running trains heading eastbound from Chicago use track 1. Eastbound trains may also use track 2.![]() Follow the signals eastbound from the bottom of the diagram to the top as all aspects available are shown at each location. The smaller signals show which aspects at the next signal west will lead to the aspect illustrated (on each track). Restricting is always shown if the track is occupied between locations. Stop is shown if the track is occupied at the location (before the opposing signals) or the train does not have permission to proceed. Approach and Diverging Approach are not shown eastbound at CP 51.5. A Restricting signal is displayed. The signals on track 2 at CP 50.8 are intermediates (503-2 / 504-2). The diagram below shows the signals from 531-2 through 491-2 on track 2. Note the limited aspects at CP 51.5 (no Approach or Approach Diverging). Yellow lamps are not used. ![]() Signal Progression ![]() Westbound trains travel right to left approaching CPs and even numbered intermediate signals. Eastbound trains travel left to right approaching CPs and odd numbered intermediate signals. (Track numbers follow the dash in signal numbers on intermediate signals.) If a train is present in a block marked in red or the signal entering that block is set to stop the signals in the preceeding blocks will follow the approach and clear aspects shown. Flashing red denotes blocks where restricting replaces approach. |
