1998 Movements and Capacities
According to NICTD in 1998, there were 55 operable South Shore cars, of which 51 are needed for each weekday's trips 48 of those needed
to be ready to run at 4:00am for the morning peak service to Chicago. (My count of 1998 peak capacity to Chicago was 4,960.)
Note that there were 58 cars on the roster in 1998. The three cars not operable were damaged
in accidents in 1993 and 1998.

capacities based on the number of seats on a 1982 MU or 1992 Trailer - the South Shore often moves unmanned cars as part
