METRA Electric Train 804 aproaching 27th Street South Shore Line trains share the METRA Electric District with bi-level electric trains. In 1998 METRA had 83 pairs of electric cars, compared to the 58 individual cars and trailers operated at that time by NICTD on the South Shore Line. METRA added another 13 pairs of cars in 2005.
