South Bend Amtrak Station

This station building housed the final Eastern stop of the South Shore Line in South Bend from 1970 when the South Bend street
running section was closed until the new station was opened in 1992 at the South Bend Airport. The building is still used for
the South Bend Amtrak station. There is a small freight yard just West of the station, and a passing track pictured below.
The freight yard no longer connects to the Norfolk Southern "Chicago Line" which runs parallel on the south side of the
South Shore from New Carlisle to Bendix. The yard and former main line between Bendix and Grandview is occasionally used by
CSS Freight to store rail cars.
